Illegally Simplifying Biodiversity

It took me a while to narrow down exactly what I wanted to do (ignore the time stamp on this post.) When I started thinking about this project I knew that biodiversity peaks my interest, but I didn't know where to go with that. It's such a broad topic to take over for a research project and I wasn't trying to explain every detail, example, and statistic regarding the Earth's dwindling number of species.

I sat down and thought through the reasons for dwindling species. Pollution was a big one, but I've failed enough writing assignments to know not to go with my first idea (read Writing Without Cliché for a humorous explanation.) And really, if it's the first thing to pop into your head, it's probably the first thing to pop into everyone's head.

Unfortunately, shutting down my first idea put a stint on my creativity and made it difficult to come up with a single wisp of cleverness until class earlier today. The second I sat down, and with no outside catalyst, an idea exploded into my brain. What effect do poacher's have on biodiversity? What do typically poached animals bring to their ecosystems? Hell, does the accepted definition of poaching even match the true meaning of the word? There is so much to be learned, and I'm sure my fascination for the subject will fuel an excellent research project.

Poached animals are sometimes sold as "exotic pets"

My audiences are the unaware and the people in charge. I figure that's the most effective way to make a difference. My new motto is "Gather support and go make a difference."
